North Thailand and Laos Tour

Different to our offroad tour, we spend our time on good roads riding through fascinating mountains, unspoilt countryside, we meet friendly people in mountain villages and enjoy the best Asian cuisine.

THAI - North 1Day 1 Arrive Chiang Mai. We will meet you at the airport and transfer you to our downtown hotel to relax after your long flight do a little sightseeing or shopping the choice is yours. This evening we will have our welcome dinner in one of the local riverside restaurants and visit the famout Night Bazaar.

Day 2 Chiang Mai - Chiang Rai. After breakfast we collect our motorcycles and head northbound towards Chiang Rai, on the way we will pay a visit to some hot springs where you can actually cook eggs, and visit the white temple built by a famous Thai artist. On arrival in Chiang Rai we head for our city centre hotel, from here you can explore the city and maybe visit the food market.

Day 3 Chiang Rai - Huay Xai (Laos). During our first 2 hours out on the road today we will be in the Golden Triangle, famous for its former opium production We follow the Mekong river for 50 km downstream to Chiang Khong, the gateway to Indochina and border town for Laos where we complete the border formalities on the Thai side before crossing the Mekong into Laos. We spend the rest of the day in the border town of Huay Xai, visit ancient temples ,stroll around local markets or have a relaxing massage before dinner in a riverside restaurant.

Day 4 Huay Xay - Luang Namtha A newly built road leads us through the mountains of northern Laos, passing several villages to Luang Namtha, a small town near the Chinese border. From a temple located on a hill you have a fantastic view just before sunset.

Day 5 Luang Namtha - Nong Kiev We follow a small paved road for the next 230km through countless villages, and across the mountains of northern our overnight stop at a small resort on the shores of the north Nam Ou River.

Day 6 Nong Kiev – Luang Prabang. The ride today takes us through amazing valleys towards Luang Prabang, we arrive early afternoon and check into our comfortable guesthouse located on the banks of the river Kan. After dinner why not pay a visit to the night market.

Day 7 Luang Prabang. The old town of Luang Prabang has been a Unesco World Heritage Site since 1995.  We will have a half day tour to one of the most beautiful waterfalls we have ever seen, back in Luang Prabang there is much to see including the temple Wat Phousi or you can just relax in a café. This is a good opportunity to get any laundry or dry cleaning done. This evening we will enjoy dinner at one of the many restaurants on the Mekong riverbank.

Day 8 Luang Prabang - Tung Chang Heading south we leave Luang PrabangTHAI - North 2

Day 9 Tung Chang - Phayao. Another day on top motorcycle routes, a curvy asphalt mountain road leads us to the town of Phayao. Situated on a beautiful lake if you like to fish this is the place.   One of the many restaurants selling fresh fish will take care of dinner this evening.

Day 10 Phayao – Chiang Mai. A few kilometres into our ride today we will stop at a waterfall before continuing on winding roads back to Chiang Mai where we will arrive early afternoon and hand back our bikes.  There will still be time for that last minute shopping your just chilling by the pool before our farewell dinner.

Day 11  Depart Chiang Mai. We will transfer you to the airport for your flight home. Your Lao adventure is over …..
